Conference : 2023: PAPER & POSTER submission deadline extended until May 15

Submission accepted until May 15th
Mon, May 15, 2023, 11:59 PM - 11:59 PM PDT  Univ California, San Diego, La Jolla, CA
The conference aims to bring together researchers, practitioners, and scholars working in the fields of neuroscience, cognitive science, and architecture to explore the latest research and innovative ideas that can lead to more informed design of the built environment.

We welcome original submissions that address empirical or theoretical issues in architecture, using a scientific method to answer questions about the effects of the built environment on human behavior, cognition, and well-being. Scientific case studies are also acceptable. Possible topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Effects of sensuous properties like light, sound, texture, smell, and feel on activity, social interaction, emotion or mood, perception, memory, and attention.
  • Geometric design of space to facilitate wayfinding and navigation.
  • The effect of architectural properties on well-being of special populations, such as students at different levels, Alzheimer’s and Parkinsonian’s patients, prisoners, mental health patients, and office workers.
  • The use of virtual and augmented reality technologies in architectural design and evaluation.
There will be breakout sessions for more focused discussions.

All submissions will be subject to a double-blind peer review process. Accepted papers will be presented at the conference and published in the conference proceedings, subject to author registration and presentation.  Accepted posters will be presented in the venue during one or more poster sessions.
